Cynthia Baron is an alternate member of the Investment and CEO Succession Committees.

Cynthia Baron began her role as an Elected Alternate Trustee representing the retired members on the Alameda County Employee Retirement Association (ACERA) Board of Retirement in January 2023.

Ms. Baron began her career with the Alameda County Social Services Agency and fulfilled many roles over her 19 years with the Agency. She was a Social Worker, Child Welfare Worker, Child Welfare Supervisor and Program Manager. She went on to work for 14 years in the Human Resources field. She retired as the Alameda County Labor Relations Manager/Chief Assistant Director of Human Resources in December 2012.

Ms. Baron was raised in Upstate New York and moved to California in 1978. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from College Misericordia (PA), a Master of Social Work from Marywood School of Social Work (PA) and a Master’s in Public Administration from California State, Hayward (now Cal State of the East Bay).
