Alameda County elected officials have the choice to enter ACERA membership and earn ACERA benefits, or decline ACERA membership. Elected officials who choose ACERA membership and have prior ACERA membership will enter ACERA in their previous tier upon assuming elected office. (All officials who choose ACERA membership will enter as General Members except the Sheriff/Coroner, who will enter as a Safety Member upon assuming elected office.)
